THE SET UP

Budget cuts in the state of California that dropped UC support to below 8% of fiscal funding, meant the crown jewel institution of the Golden State had to find other ways to make ends meet, stave off more furloughs, and continue to create new knowledge. From a $4.3B cap campaign, to an evolving admissions challenge, the job was big.

THE STORY

SPEAK leveraged thought leaders, such as Nobel laureate Andrea Ghez, Fields Medal-winner Terence Tao, and Erik Hoek to amplify their work and elevate their individual brands. Our leadership helped in-house marketing along with 160/90 create a tidal wave of innovative video podcasts, Out of Home content, broadcast commercials, earned media, capital campaign-specific print, digital, experiential projections, film and more.

THE PAYOFF

UCLA successfully raised over $5.49 billion to stabilize funding for the next 100 years; supporting student scholarships, faculty positions, research initiatives, and capital projects. This work empowered yielded the largest (146,500), and most-accomplished group of applicants, retained top-tier faculty, and in countless other ways helped UCLA continue to be a beacon of enlightenment in the West.

Meta had a problem with their Facebook international small business, and user-base that couldn’t easily use the tools they needed to advance their business.

THE STORY

SPEAK produced in remote and in-person Facebook Boost education modules that helped brands and individuals across the globe leverage their expertise and make money.

The Summit School District in Summit County Colorado needed to address the social and emotional well being of their student body.

SPEAK took a bold, wholistic approach to solving the problem. We harmonized with the internal marketing group, and designed a suite of experiences for students and faculty, including an instructor recruitment push for new talented International Baccalaureatefaculty that could read the room and “speak the language” literally, and figuratively.
